Patriots Draft Picks by Anagram

-by DNOMN8R314

One more bit of wordplay silliness before NFL fanbases explode.

This time, I’ve selected 30 Patriots draft picks selected by Bill Belichick, spun them through an anagram generator, and listed the results below. Try to pick out the players!

Two notes. For those who don’t know, an anagram is a different arrangement of the letters in a word or phrase. (For example, “body mart” is an anagram of “Tom Brady.”) Also, every player below spent at least two full seasons in New England (unless the player was drafted in 2017), and there is at least one player from every year and every round.

Have fun!

It’s just right that Slater is back for one more deal. He deserves to finish it out as a Patriot. And, with the reported rockiness in the locker room, this was a mandatory signing for BB, despite his limited role on the field.

Patterson can at least add a wrinkle to the offense if he stays on the roster so dont be surprised to see this play
Jet sweep with Patterson with an option route for Brandin Cooks. Option route being either a comeback route or a go route depending on if a safety bites on the Jet sweep or backfield defensive alignment

I said it, speed kills, they will find a way to put tthe ball in his hands, another option defenses will have to worry about.

Bolden
Ebner
Slater
Patterson
King

2 of these players can at least sort of ad depth ie Bolden and Patterson in a break glass in an emergency kind of way
Slater, King and Ebner can go, They cant even play a position

15 percent of the roster is tied up with special teamers when you add in the mandatory holder, kicker and punter

MADDENING but at least they are good locker room guys

and who’s the WR that gets bumped out? Unless Britt really kills it in camp, I don’t see him sticking. I’m really rooting for Mitchell to regain form and improve too.

CRAP!!!! The Snowblower Theorem is being tested. ANd it’s losing! I don’t understand. Mine is working, 3 of my neighbors’ are doing fine. and then I talk to my neighbor 2 doors down. He decided to 1) “summerize” his snowblower and 2) stored the plow blade to his small tractor for the season 2 weeks ago. AHHHHHHHGGGGG!!! It’s all his fault we’re staring down at 8-15 inches tonight and tomorrow on top of the 5-6 already here.

My wife wanted to put the shovels in the basement two Saturdays ago. I told her no way. But the damage was done. We got 16 inches of snow last week and will get another foot starting tomorrow.

When I lived in Manchester NH I I ran into the Mayor at the local diner at the end of April. I gave him shit for the alternate side of the street parking lasting till May 15. “When have we ever gotten snow in May?” It snowed the first week in May. I’m glad I never ran into him again. lol

I remember my junior year of college (at UMass-Dartmouth) we had a 9 inch snowstorm during finals…the 3rd week of May. None were cancelled since they wouldn’t let dorm students stay an extra 2 days if they were.

The greatest trick our forefathers ever played was convincing the world that there are three phases to the game. A QB is nothing more than an arm-punter, a WR a master gunner with a 100% down rate. LBs are an alchemy of kick blocking and punt protection.

I am the Alpha, the Omega. I am a Special Teams player.

Its insane
Ebner 2 years, $5M, $1.2M gtd -> $2.2M cap it
King 2 years, $2.6M, $400k gtd -> ~$1.2M cap hit
Patterson 1 year, $3.25M, unguaranteed -> $3.25M cap hit
If Slater comes in at what Ebner is, then the Pats have $8.5M tied into non specialist special teamers. Never mind the opportunity cost of the roster spots.

Serena Williams is the most dominant athlete I’ve ever seen. Outside of that, TB12.

Calipatsfan3473

I was very surprised that Serena wasn’t on the list.

hugo #FreeBoney
Member

Serena is the perfect storm. Physically lightyears ahead of her peers, skilled enough to still be able to win without it, and playing an individual sport.

hugo #FreeBoney
Member
Free agent

In other words, Serena can throw the ball and catch it. Which is why the women’s tour has been so comically lopsided with her in it.

Jdog Lemon Head
Member
Free agent

I agree with MattDog’s sentiment of it hard to call folks dominant in team sports such as football. Teams sports such as Basketball and Soccer are different because you hold onto the ball for much longer periods of time and can just beat or blow by folks to score. In Football, it takes other folks doing their job to score

Jdog Lemon Head

I don’t watch racing but I have no issues with drivers being on there…don’t know how good they are but I think it’s a lot easier to quantify dominance if they continuously win.

BRAXTON BERRIOS Slot WR from Miami Comparison =Amendola STRENGTHS Early burst into routes can turn into vertical separation if cornerbacks underestimate him. Rhythmic route-runner who thrives as pattern progresses. Loses very little quickness from breaks and stems. Play speed stays locked in. Routes are crisp and manipulate defenders. Makes quality route adjustments in space. Sticky hands make a quarterback’s job easier. Locks in on throws with laser-sharp focus. Possesses impressive ability to make sudden body adjustments to dig out low throws and balls behind him. Will lay his body on the line to make the catch. Unafraid to work middle… Read more »

RONNIE HARRISON – Draft Profile

NFL COMPARISON Adrian Wilson
BOTTOM LINE Combination safety with all the size and athletic traits you could hope for in a safety. Harrison is a fluid athlete with few athletic limitations and has the ability to fit into a variety of defensive schemes. His penchant for flying in shoulder first will need to get cleaned or risk giving up missed tackles and big plays. Harrison’s physical approach and urgency in run support gives him a chance to start early, but his potential in coverage and athletic ability give him a chance to become a Pro Bowler.

The list is, laughably, missing the most dominant Olympian ever, Michael Phelps, which ESPN blames on “the data.” What data determined that the swimmer who won 23 gold medals isn’t one of the 20 most dominant athletes of the last 20 years? ESPN doesn’t say. Just trust them. It’s “the data.” And “the data” cannot be questioned.

Except for the gaping hole at left tackle, I’m pretty much OK with the Patriots off season so far. I cannot believe that between Solder, Lewis and Butler that $85 million in guaranteed money was given. It’s completely understandable that these deals were not matched by New England.

dfwpatsfan

Patriots also have a lot of cap room in 2019. So the modest FA this season was financially prudent.

@AdamSchefter Jaguars are releasing WR Allen Hurns, per source. Strong market expected for him.

insane that they couldn’t keep one of those guys!?!

hugo #FreeBoney

We’ll see. They were successful without Robinson last year, so it can be done. And Hurns isn’t all that good. I just find replacing him with Moncrief curious. Woulda rather had more stability since Cole and Westbrook are in new bigger roles.

Shaggy
Guest

If they were going to pay so much for Moncrief they could have bitten the bullet and just paid Landry for a year under the tag.

Shaggy

The Bortles extension wasn’t really a “big contract”.

dfwpatsfan
Member
Free agent

The extension guarantees $33m for the full contract value of $54m. That is a big contract for a guy who qas generously ranked #20 last year.

But after Cousins signed a fully guaranteed 82.5m contract with the Vikings this does look normal.

Shaggy
Guest
Free agent

He was already going to be playing for nearly $20m on his 5th year option. If he flames out next year, I believe the Jags are only on the hook for around $6-7m in further guaranteed money in 2019. If he has a solid year, then they have him under contract for two additional years. If he goes back to 2016 Bortles, they get rid of him. $26.5 million in guaranteed money for a starter is very reasonable

jdlboot14

Brees will likely end up with passing record. I don’t know that Brady will play 2 years past Brees to catch him from ~4500 behind Either way, I don’t think Ben or Eli will gain 20,000 more in their careers, they each seem like 2 more years tops. But Brady should be able to pass Manning for 2nd all-time with 5800 more career yards – 1.5 seasons.
