Super Bowl LII Prop Bets Contest

-by DNOMN8R314

Last year’s Prop Bets contest was I felt received well, so let’s bring it back.

Since this year is the 52nd Super Bowl, I have listed 52 prop bets below. Send your answers to contests@patsfootballfans.com, and I will tally the results and announce a winner after the game.

I will be accepting guesses until 5:00 PM Eastern time on February 4 (the day of the Super Bowl), when the Patriots release their inactives. (If inactives are released earlier, that becomes the cut-off.)

Scoring: all questions except the last are worth 1 point; the last question is worth 3 points. For questions marked with a double asterisk (**), the closest answer will win points if no one answers exactly right.

Good luck, everyone, and GO PATS!

  1. Who will be the Patriots’ seven inactives? [NOTE: If no one gets all seven, whoever gets the most gets the points.]
  2. ** How long will Leslie Odom Jr.’s performance of “America the Beautiful” last? [NOTE: For this and other such questions, I will be timing the performance starting at the first note and ending on the last note.]
  3. ** How long will P!nk’s National Anthem performance last?
  4. Will the coin toss be heads or tails?
  5. Which team will be the receiving team for the opening kickoff?
  6. Which beer brand will have the first beer commercial of the game (starting after kickoff)?
  7. What will be the first animal to appear in a commercial (after kickoff)?
  8. ** How many yards will the first offensive play of the game go for?
  9. What will the first penalty of the game be?
  10. Which team will call the first timeout of the game?
  11. ** What will be the time on the clock (and in what quarter) when the first scoring play of the game occurs?
  12. How will the first touchdown of the game be scored? (pass, run, interception return, etc.) [NOTE: For this and other such questions, if you do not think a touchdown will be scored, you may guess that. Similarly, if you do not think any field goals will be scored, you may guess “none” for questions about field goals, and so on.]
  13. Which team will score the first touchdown of the game?
  14. Which team will kick the first field goal of the game?
  15. ** How long will the longest touchdown of the game be?
  16. ** How long will the longest field goal of the game be?
  17. ** What will the score be at the end of the first quarter (include teams in your answer)? [NOTE: For this and other such questions, “closest” will be determined by total points off. For example, if the score at the end of the first quarter is Patriots 10, Eagles 3, and your guess was Patriots 7, Eagles 7: the “Patriots” guess is off by 3, and the “Eagles” guess is off by 4, so this guess would be considered off by 7 points.]
  18. Who will be the Patriots’ leading rusher?
  19. Who will be the Eagles’ leading rusher?
  20. Who will be the Patriots’ leading receiver?
  21. Who will be the Eagles’ leading receiver?
  22. ** How many yards will the Patriots’ leading rusher have?
  23. ** How many yards will the Eagles’ leading rusher have?
  24. ** How many yards will the Patriots’ leading receiver have?
  25. ** How many yards will the Eagles’ leading receiver have?
  26. How many turnovers will the Patriots’ defense (or special teams) record?
  27. How many turnovers will the Eagles’ defense (or special teams) record?
  28. How many sacks will the Patriots have?
  29. How many sacks will the Eagles have?
  30. ** What will the score be at the end of the first half (include teams in your answer)?
  31. ** How long will Justin Timberlake’s halftime show last?
  32. ** How many passes will Tom Brady complete?
  33. ** How many passes will Nick Foles complete?
  34. ** How many passing yards will Tom Brady throw for?
  35. ** How many passing yards will Nick Foles throw for?
  36. Who will lead the Patriots in tackles?
  37. Who will lead the Eagles in tackles?
  38. How many total calls will be reviewed in the game? [NOTE: Touchdowns and turnovers, which are automatically reviewed, only count if the play is announced to be under review.]
  39. How many total calls will be reversed in the game?
  40. ** How many total penalties will be called in the game?
  41. ** What will the score be at the end of the third quarter (include teams in your answer)?
  42. Will the game feature at least one defensive touchdown?
  43. Will the game feature at least one special teams touchdown?
  44. Will the game feature at least one safety (the scoring play, not the position)?
  45. Will the game feature at least one successful trick play touchdown?
  46. Will the game feature at least one blocked kick?
  47. Will at least one attempted scoring kick, good or bad, hit the goalpost?
  48. ** What will be the time on the clock (and in what quarter) when the final scoring play of the game occurs?
  49. Will the game go into overtime?
  50. ** What will the final score of the game be (include teams in your answer)?
  51. What color Gatorade will be dumped on the winning coach?
  52. Who will be the Super Bowl LII MVP?

So the Eagles have this super depth at their defensive front, or so I’ve been reading all week. Doesn’t that mean that with a player limit of 46, there is a lack of depth elsewhere? And can that be exploited?Report

markpatriots

PatriotPrideBoy

Go into hurry-up mode for the majority of the game. They won’t be able to rotate d-linemen so much that way. Also, it’d get Gronk into favorable spots.

The Eagles don’t even have the secondary compared to the Jags, so I’m expecting them to play tons of zoneReport

BoSoxJim

The Eagles mainly rotate series to series…not during a series. Although I like hurry up as it can cause confusion and doesn’t give the defense time to figure things out and communicate.Report

Cox is my biggest concern. Jarrett tore Mason a new one last year and Dareus made him look foolish at times as well a couple weeks ago (and he’s a run stuffer, not a pass rusher).
And Thuney’s main issue is bull rushers (although Cox mainly lines up over the RG).Report

SamiG

This time , i really agree with the award of Coach of the Year: What McVay did in his FIRST season as HC, with a team that was missing the postseason as long as the last time the Pats beat the Eagles in a SB, is really impressive.
